Construction to take place weekdays, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the city
The City of Alameda’s annual street resurfacing project is set to begin this month and continue through August, with construction work taking place Monday through Friday on multiple streets throughout the city.

The project includes the following streets:
- Broadway, from Encinal Avenue to Buena Vista Avenue.
- Central Avenue, from Grand Street to High Street.
- Clinton Avenue, from Grand Street to Park Street.
- Delmar Avenue, from the south end to Otis Drive.
- Grand Street, from Fortmann Way to the north end.
- High Street, from Otis Drive to San Jose Avenue.
- Jackson Street, from Grove Street to High Street.
- Lafayette Street, from Central Avenue to Clement Avenue.
- Mound Street, from Otis Drive to Fillmore Street.
- Park Avenue, from Central Avenue to Santa Clara Avenue.
- Pearl Street, from Otis Drive to Fernside Boulevard.
- Regent Street, from the south end to Central Avenue.
- San Antonio Avenue, from Morton Street to Lafayette Street.
- Van Buren Street, from Versailles Avenue to Mound Street.
- Van Buren Street, from Mound Street to High Street.
- Versailles Avenue, from Otis Drive to San Jose Avenue.
This project is split into multiple phases and includes concrete work (e.g. curb, gutter, and sidewalks), asphalt roadway work, traffic striping, and signage. The signage phase typically occurs once the other two phases have been completed.
In addition to the road resurfacing work, the project will also address safety improvements at intersections. In compliance with a recently passed California law, red curbs will be painted at key intersections within the project area, prohibiting parking within 20 feet of any marked or unmarked crosswalk. This measure aims to enhance visibility and safety for pedestrians, particularly near major streets, streets with bike lanes or routes, and streets in the vicinity of schools.
Construction work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedules for individual streets will vary and parking may be prohibited during construction. Please look for “No Parking” signs posted 72 hours prior to the date of work. Staff will work with AC Transit and Alameda County Industries regarding any impacts to bus or waste collection services.
Residents and businesses along the affected streets can expect some disruptions during the construction period. Full or partial road closures, minor traffic disruptions, temporary parking prohibitions, and slight increases in noise levels and dust are anticipated. The City appreciates the cooperation and patience of the community during this project. If you have any concerns or questions regarding this project, please contact Alan Ta at [email protected].
This project is primarily funded by Alameda County Measure’s B and BB, Vehicle Registration Fund, and SB 1, the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. For additional information, please visit the City of Alameda Pavement Management Project Phase 42 web page.
