Unhoused disabled veterans who are 62 or older now have an opportunity to live in a furnished studio or one-bedroom apartment in Linnet Corner, a newly built housing community in a great location in Alameda, according to the Alameda Housing Authority (AHA).

Linnet Corner, which will open in September, is within close walking distance to public transit, grocery stores, and other shopping outlets, parks, local employers, and schools. This new housing community features ten 400-square foot studio apartments and six 600-square foot one-bedroom apartments. The units have individual bathrooms and kitchens, and are suitable for one- to three-person households.
All of the rental units are furnished. Resident services are available onsite, and a free transit pass will be provided to each head of household. The only utility tenants must pay for is electricity. All other utilities (water, sewer, trash) are provided.
A $500 security deposit is required at move-in. Monthly rent for studio apartments and one-bedroom apartments will be set at 30% of the tenant’s income.

All veteran residents will be given a housing voucher. Both honorably and dishonorably discharged veterans are eligible to apply. Citizenship or legal residency is required. There is no minimum income limit. Homeless status will be verified.
