Waterfront trail to Bay Farm bike bridge closed until September 8
Two segments of the waterfront trail (Shoreline Park) that lead up to the Bay Farm Island bike bridge will be closed back-to-back August 15 to September 8, according to a City of Alameda alert. The closures are necessary for the City to widen and repave the trail, which is used by many young people to get to school. The improvements will eliminate hazardous conditions and create a smooth walking and riding surface.
The following detours are marked and in place (see map):
- Phase 1 “U” Detour: Sheffield Road to Puddingstone Road to Robert Davey Jr. Drive to Packet Landing Road OR Island Drive/Veterans Court (light purple on map).
- Phase 2 “U” Detour: Sheffield Road to Puddingstone Road to Robert Davey Jr. Drive to Island Drive/Veterans Court.
Please use extra caution in the area. During both phases, avoid using the sidewalk on the north side of Robert Davey Jr. Drive, from Puddingstone Road to Packet Landing Road, since the EBMUD project at the Packet Landing corner has closed this crosswalk.
“We are working hard to finish the work quickly and will open the improved trail sooner if possible,” the City stated. “After this project is complete, we’ll be repairing other trail segments on Bay Farm.”
Meanwhile, report service requests to SeeClickFix.
