The American Public Power Association (APPA) recognizes the first week in October as Public Power Week. During that week, they highlight the benefits of public power that 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities across the United States provide. The City of Alameda has our own local electricity provider, Alameda Municipal Power (AMP), which provides the community with 100% clean energy.
In support of Public Power Week, AMP has shared a few exciting offers available to Alameda residents:
- Double Rebate: For a limited time, AMP is doubling its smart thermostat rebate up to $100 when you pair it with your $1,500-rebate approved heat pump HVAC system. Other rebates are available for electric vehicles, solar panel upgrades, and appliances.
- DIY Energy Audit Guide: AMP has launched a new DIY Home Energy Audit program. Customers can get a personalized guide to learn more about energy usage and ways to make your home more energy efficient. When you make your request, AMP will send you a personalized guide. You can then implement these suggestions or find a contractor for technical assistance
- EV Expo: Sunday, October 8: The Electric Vehicle (EV) and E-Bike Expo is coming to downtown Alameda, in City Hall’s parking lot at 1555 Oak St. The event will showcase a variety of EVs and E-bikes. Get the scoop from EV owners to help find the EV or E-bike that’s right for you. There will be information, games, and giveaways, including the chance to win a home EV charging station (installation costs not included). The EV Showcase will include Chevy Bolt, Ford F-150 Lightning, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Models 3 & Y, and more. Plus, Rad Power Bikes will bring a variety of E-bikes and help you find the best choice for your lifestyle. Representatives from AMP will be on hand to answer all your questions. Admission is free, but it’s recommended that you reserve your spot in advance.
