‘A Very Ferry Birthday Party’ Celebrates with Freebies

The San Francisco Bay Area Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA), the agency that provides San Francisco Bay Ferry service, will offer free youth ferry rides on Thursday, July 13, to help celebrate the 125th anniversary of the historic Ferry Building in downtown San Francisco. Passengers age 17 or under will ride for free on all SF Bay Ferry routes, all day. Adult passengers will be required to pay normal fares.

“A Very Ferry Birthday Party” at the Ferry Building Marketplace will include special offers from shops and restaurants, item giveaways, and kids’ activities. Humphry Slocombe will offer free ice cream sundaes while supplies last, and Fort Point Beer Company will have a special birthday happy hour. As the Ferry Building website says, “Party like it’s 1898!”

The Ferry Building Marketplace is just steps away from the Downtown San Francisco Ferry Terminal, with daily service from Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, and Vallejo.

“The Ferry Building is a world-famous destination we’re lucky to have right here in our backyard,” said WETA Executive Director Seamus Murphy. “We’re glad to help celebrate its 125th anniversary and build the next generation of ferry riders here in the Bay Area.”

San Francisco Bay Ferry operates routes connecting the cities of Alameda, Oakland, Richmond, San Francisco, South San Francisco and Vallejo.
