URGENT: Help FAAS Empty the Kennels ASAP

Update: Eight dogs are still available!Alameda Post - Simba, Mozart and Samantha need new homes immediately!

Simba, Mozart, and Samantha are three of the remaining dogs that need to be fostered or adopted immediately. Photo FAAS.Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) is urgently seeking adopters and foster homes for its remaining dogs as the organization must empty the kennels to prepare to renovate them for the first time in 40 years. The shelter must find homes for the remaining dogs by the end of today, March 1, to begin the upgrade, which will replace the current enclosures with modern, sound-reducing, and bacteria-resistant ones.

As of now, only 11 dogs are left at FAAS Update Thu., March 2. Eight dogs still need to be taken in. They will be at the shelter through tomorrow, Friday March 3. There WILL be standard adoption hours on Friday March 3 from 12 – 4 p.m. at the shelter on Fortmann Way. If any of the remaining dogs are not adopted/fostered they will be housed at a fostering facility in Castro Valley. Even during renovations, adoptions will happen throughout March. FAAS will meet with prospective owners in local parks by appointment.

The organization is offering a reduced adoption fee of $25—which may be waived in some cases—to encourage swift adoptions. If you are unable to adopt, you can help by fostering a dog. Please visit the shelter at 1590 Fortmann Way between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., or call 510-337-8565 for more information.

The kennel remodel is scheduled to begin this weekend, so time is of the essence to empty the kennels and find loving homes for these dogs.
