Buster Brown is Kind of a Clown

Pet of the Week for June 8, 2024

Buster Brown is a fun smile with a dog attached. Adopt him and your life will be full of those big happy grins, as if the two of you are sharing the world’s best inside joke.

The 6-year-old is a huge favorite with FAAS canine volunteers and staff, and no one can figure out why he’s remained at the shelter for more than a year. He’s flown under the radar for too long, and they’re hoping today’s article will help people realize how great he is and get him out of his kennel and into a forever home.

Buster is super cuddly with a heart full of love to share with whoever chooses him. In his kennel he can often be found standing near his door, waiting for someone to walk him, or just to visit and spend some time with him so he can enjoy his toys. He’s a social guy who much prefers to chonk on a Kong or toy when someone is right there with him—or better yet, sitting on his shelter bed next to him.

He bonds strongly with people, and FAAS staff are sure he will make a loyal, deeply loving pet.

The only not-perfect aspect of Buster is that he sometimes has a startle response to fast-moving strangers or to skateboarders and other things that whiz by and take him by surprise. (It might be due to his sight.) So he’d be happiest in a family with no kids or other furry family members, preferably in a quiet, low-stress environment where he can go on chill walks and then crash on your couch and nuzzle right up to you. Editor’s note: June 12, 11 a.m. — Removed reference to arthritis. Buster doesn’t have arthritis. We regret the error.

If you can’t adopt, Buster would love a foster home that could take him for a few days or weeks. This would help ease him back into life “out there,” so he’s prepared for the real deal when it happens, since FAAS has been his de facto home for so long. As always with fosters, FAAS will give you all the supplies you’ll need for his stay, including dog bed, leash, and food.

Through June, you can adopt Buster or other adult animals (over 6 months old) at FAAS for only $25! Rarely has such adorableness been so easy on the wallet.

Read more about Buster Brown on his FAAS bio page. And come meet him at the FAAS main shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, any day but Monday, noon to 4 p.m.
