Pets of the Week for April 26, 2025
The rabbits available at FAAS probably are thrilled that Easter is over. Why? Because they can be advertised to the public once again!

The wise staff of Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter knows a sad truth: Rabbits who get adopted for or around Easter often end up as a novelty, enjoyed for a few days, or a few weeks, until the adopters realize just what goes into having a pet rabbit. Not at FAAS, of course. FAAS would never adopt them to anyone who doesn’t seem committed to following their rabbit adoption protocols.
As we usually do when it comes to making bunnies our Pet of the Week, we talk about all the available buns. So this is a multi-listing post.
Here are the fun buns up for adoption and ready to hop into your life if you’re committed to giving them a great home:
- Honey & Benjamin – A lovable bonded pair of Palomino rabbits. Just watching them snuggle will lower your blood pressure.
- Lionel – A shy and very cute Lion Head rabbit.
- Nabokov – Like Lionel, also a shy Lion Head. Very gentle.
- Romeo – An English spot rabbit looking for love.
- Rusty – A Deilenaar rabbit who is small, friendly, and confident.
- Tolstoy – A Rex albino who loves to be petted.
- Valentino – An English spot rabbit who is curious and confident.
Lionel and Rusty are in foster homes. If you’re interested in meeting them, call (510) 975-0137. The rest of the fun buns are at FAAS’s South Shore Adoption Center, at 2228 South Shore Center, Alameda. Meet them there Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
