The USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum invites the public to attend its Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m., with a Memorial Squadron flyover afterward. The USS Hornet is located at 707 West Hornet Avenue.
The featured speaker will be retired U.S. Navy Medical Corps Rear Admiral Michael S. Baker, M.D., F.A.C.S., who served in uniform for 30 years and recently retired from a parallel 40-year career in general, vascular, and trauma surgery. His many kudos include three Legion of Merit Awards, the Combat Action Ribbon, and River and Coastal Patrol Officer-in-Charge warfare pin.
The ceremony, which is expected to last until around noon, will conclude with a wreath laying. Campolindo High School senior Mina Lim will sing the National Anthem.
Following the ceremony and wreath laying, at approximately 1 p.m., the Memorial Squadron will conduct a fly over of the museum. There also will be a special sale of used Military History Books from the Hornet collection for those who are interested.
The Memorial Day event is free for veterans and active duty military personnel (with ID).
