StopWaste drop-off event this Sunday, August 10
Need to get rid of batteries, pesticides, old cleaners, expired medicine, and e-waste piling up in your home? Safely dispose of hazardous waste for free at a one-day drop-off event on Sunday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is open to all Alameda County residents. Advance registration is required. The drop-off location is in Alameda; the address will be provided with registration confirmation.

Make an appointment
Register for the event by making an appointment, using the form on the StopWaste website. The address of the drop-off event will be sent to you in the confirmation email. Space is limited, so register early.
The form will ask you to select your language, then select an available time, submit your information, and click “complete.” You will receive an email confirmation with more details about the event.
Any information you provide when making your appointment will be kept confidential and will only be used by Alameda County Household Hazardous Waste Program and StopWaste to improve our services and programming.
Prepare for your appointment
It’s easy to prepare for the event. Just gather your household hazardous waste items and then follow these simple steps:
- Pack your trunk. Place accepted materials in your trunk or back cargo space.
- Have your driver’s license ready. Your driver’s license will be scanned to verify Alameda County residency. If your driver’s license doesn’t have an Alameda County address, please show proof of residency by bringing a recent utility bill or a copy of a rental or ownership agreement.
- Stay in your vehicle. Professional crew members will unload and handle all the toxic materials, making it quick and easy for you. It’s also state law.
This event is for residents only—businesses may not participate. Information about business hazardous waste disposal is available on the StopWaste Business Hazardous Waste webpage.
