Deadline is January 8
Do you know a teacher who goes above and beyond, in and out of the classroom? Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) is now accepting nominations for its 2024 Teacher of the Year. Anyone can nominate a teacher. Just complete and submit the online nomination form by 5 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
After being nominated, AUSD teachers who meet the county and state criteria will be invited to participate in the next phase of the process, which entails submitting a resume, introductory letter, and letters of support to the district office.
The 2024 Teacher of the Year program is designed to honor and recognize excellent teachers working in the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD). Parents, students, staff, and community members have the opportunity to nominate any teacher.
“Research continually confirms that expert teachers who can deliver thoughtful and high-quality instruction are indisputably the most important factor in how much our children learn,” says AUSD Superintendent Pasquale Scuderi. “The Teacher of the Year program provides us with an annual opportunity to identify, showcase, and learn from our most talented and effective educators. I am looking forward to learning more about the excellent teachers we have in this district.”
A selection committee consisting of teachers, administrators, the Alameda Education Association president, a school board member, and a community member will select the AUSD Teacher of the Year. The teacher who is chosen will be recognized by the Board of Education and will then be honored by the Alameda County Office of Education in the fall and will become eligible for the Alameda County Teacher of the Year Award as well as the State Teacher of the Year Award.
