Two fire rescue boats responded to the scene. The 27-foot boat was submerged when fire crews located one man aboard the vessel. His identity has not yet been released.

A total of 21 personnel responded to the scene, including assistance from Oakland Fire Marine 1, according to the AFD report. An Alameda Fire rescue swimmer was deployed from a rescue boat to extricate the victim, AFD said.

The man was taken to Encinal Boat Ramp where an AFD ambulance provided advance life support care before transporting him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No update on his condition was available.

The rescue took place in the dark, under difficult weather conditions, Alameda Fire Division Chief Dave Port told KTVU News. “Some of the challenges we faced were that the tide was coming in, we had wind and rain conditions to operate in, and a normal night is a challenge in itself.”

Officials have not yet said why the boat sank or when it will be pulled from the water.
