He’s Baaaack!
I AM HAPPY!!
This week saw my human companion (HC) return to the streets on a limited basis to get my real-time reports back online. He is doing multiple half-mile walks each day, but we are staying close to home. He continues to add distance every couple of days, and we are up to a total of two miles a day. He hopes to get to three miles by the end of the week.
June is just around the corner, and I am seeing some signs of graduation. I saw my first AHS Athletic Boosters congratulations sign. If you recall, all the Alameda high schools created graduation lawn signs with the name of the grad during the COVID pandemic. The AHS Athletic Boosters joined in to recognize the senior athletes. After COVID ended (did it really end?), the Boosters continued the tradition. Congratulations grads!
June also has a primary election scheduled for this week. I haven’t seen many signs around except for a few “Tracy Jensen for Mayor” signs. I have heard that the governor’s race is considered a “jungle primary” because so many people are running and candidates from the same party are competing against each other. Officially, there are 61 certified candidates.
I was really curious to know who Richard A. Alpert is. He is running a “write-in” campaign for governor. So not only is he not on the ballot, which might be a distinct disadvantage, but to my knowledge, he only has one sign out. Has anyone seen other signs?
In other election-related news, Oliver Ma, who is running for Lieutenant Governor is missing one of his campaign signs. Apparently, it is being used for free speech purposes at the corner of Alameda Avenue and Union Street.
A couple of autos caught my eye this week. The metallic Turquoise Tesla was very pretty, but I bet it shows every fingerprint. The VW microbus with the Summer of Love graphics took my HC back to his youth.
Alameda is known for its informal sidewalk reuse program, which involves putting personal property on the curb for someone to pick up. I came across a portable heater that I don’t think qualifies as a reuse item. Would you take a heater with a “melted cord?”
I was fortunate to be walking by a garden on Central Avenue where the bees were busy pollinating flowers. Check out this little guy.
I am closing out this week’s report with a cute picture of two collies hangin’ out in the back of their car with the hatch up. I only glanced at them briefly in between the barrage of treats my HC was giving me as we walked by. There are distinct advantages to being canine reactive. LOL!
Once again, I want to give a big “high four” to my dog-walker friends that did such a great job of getting me out while my HC recovered. You guys were great.
Onward into June.
