Welcome to Carter Country

Alameda Post - Carter the dog is ready to welcome you to Carter Country.

Need a jogging or hiking partner with a positive attitude and a love for the outdoors? Our pet of the week, handsome Carter, is an on-the-go kind of guy who likes to stay active. But he also is a top-rate chiller, who loves to kick back and enjoy the feel of cool grass on his body as he sniffs the scenery.

The three-year-old has it all, including some nervous habits—mouthing hands, grabbing the leash—that can go away with sustained exercise, behavior guidelines, and simply getting him out of the shelter. FAAS offers free behavior training for all dog adoptions!

Carter loves people but should probably be the only dog in the house. He gets along okay with other dogs in passing but gets a little bossy if they linger. Because of his activity level when he’s not chilling, an adults-only home is preferred, but dog-savvy kids 14 and older would be OK.

This boy loves all toys, especially the round ones. Give him a ball of any size and some space to run, and you’ve made his day!

Can you adopt Carter and give him the chance he deserves? Visit him from noon to 4 p.m. any day but Monday, at the FAAS main shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way.

His adoption fee until the end of October is only $40! What a great deal for a loyal, faithful jogging buddy who will never complain about going on the trail too early!
