Pet of the Week for June 13, 2026
Some dogs take a little while to show you who they are… Sandman is not one of those dogs!
Within minutes of meeting him, you’ll discover that he’s social, curious, and convinced that whatever you’re doing is probably something he should be involved in too. Whether he’s heading out for a walk, greeting new friends, or angling for a spot on the couch, Sandman brings an enthusiasm that’s hard not to love.

He’s the kind of dog who already knows how to live in a home. Sandman is house-trained, crate-trained, and even knows how to ring a bell when he needs to go outside. He knows basic cues, responds to his name, and loves having a routine. He’s also a world-class cuddler, happiest when leaning into a good back scratch or stretching out as close to his people as possible.
As a tripod dog, Sandman has learned to navigate the world a little differently, but that certainly hasn’t slowed him down. He loves chew toys, enjoys long walks, and gets along well with other dogs. Like many young, energetic dogs, he’s still polishing some of his manners and can get a little overexcited at times, but he’s eager to learn and responds well to guidance.
After spending time in foster care learning the ins and outs of home life, Sandman is now back at the shelter and ready for the next chapter — finding a family of his own. He’s the kind of dog who will bring plenty of laughter, companionship, and personality into your home from day one.
Meet Sandman at 1590 Fortmann Way, Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed daily for nap
