Radium Presents just announced its vibrant new season of programming with a new name, Radium Arts, and a new artistic director, acclaimed Bay Area theater leader Jonathan Moscone. The changes “mark a bold new chapter for the nonprofit dedicated to reimagining Alameda Point as a cultural destination,” the announcement noted.
“Our name is changing, but our mission stays the same,” Operations Manager Rachel Campos de Ivanov stated. “This next chapter is a celebration of everything we’ve built together and everything still to come.”
The name change reflects who the organization has always been and where it is headed. Radium Arts plans to continue bringing artists and audiences together in surprising ways designed to ignite a passion for performance. Through multi-disciplinary programming spanning circus, storytelling, music, and dance, the nonprofit is turning Alameda Point into one of the Bay Area’s most exciting cultural landscapes.
Once an expansive Naval Air Station, Alameda Point is transforming into a dynamic mixed-use destination. Radium Arts supports performing arts throughout the district, anchored by its waterfront arts hub, Radium Runway, where panoramic views of San Francisco set the stage for what they describe as “a wild diversity” of programming.
Radium Runway is the seed for the organization’s permanent vision—a 600-seat performing arts center, which was recently approved by the City of Alameda.
About Jonathan Moscone
“Radium Arts is thrilled to welcome Jonathan Moscone as its new artistic director,” the announcement states. “A San Francisco–born theater director, he has spent more than 30 years bringing bold, joyful cultural experiences to life across the Bay Area.”
Moscone has led the arts at the highest levels—as executive director of the California Arts Council, chief of civic engagement at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and artistic director of California Shakespeare Theater for 15 years. He holds a master’s degree from the Yale School of Drama and a lifelong belief that the arts belong to everyone.
With his vision helping to shape the future, Radium Arts steps confidently into its next act, the announcement promises.
“I have spent my entire career believing that the arts have the power to transform communities—and the former Navy base at Alameda Point is exactly the kind of place where that transformation can happen,” Moscone said. “Working alongside a visionary such as Christopher Seiwald and an intrepid partner in Rachel Campos de Ivanov inspires me to do what I can to ensure that the arts and culture thrive in Alameda.”

Radium Arts invites audiences to experience its new season, packed with unforgettable performances:
- The Soiled Dove, featuring Joan Baez | August 7 – November 7. The beloved production returns to Radium Runway with an all-new show.
- Awesöme Orchestra | September 19. FREE! A community orchestra experience flips the traditional concert experience on its head.
- Radium Stories: The Side Show | September 24, October 22. Radium Runway’s cherished storytelling series is back for two unique live performances under the Big Top featuring JP Frary of the Moth, Don Reed of Redwood Nights, Glynn Washington of KQED, and more.
- Vessel | November 13. Vessel is a site-specific dance work, the first step toward a larger immersive performance incorporating projection, sculpture, and sound. This phase is a five-day residency led by Amelia Rudolph exploring ocean themes through vertical dance, culminating in a free public preview.
