Sammy in Her Jammies!

Pet of the Week for February 17, 2024

Samantha, a FAAS staff and volunteer favorite, has been with FAAS for more than a year now. A couple of weeks ago, Alex, a FAAS fan who now lives in Utah, reached out to FAAS to offer to do something for her that had helped another longtime shelter dog elsewhere get adopted—she offered to sew Samantha some custom-made pajamas.

FAAS staff will do anything to help this very special young lady get adopted, so they took all the requested measurements and sent them to kindhearted Alex. A week later, the amazingly stylish, adorable, pink flower fleece pajamas arrived. Animal care attendant Josh got Samantha in her new outfit—she had to be distracted with a few treats as he wiggled her into them—and took her for a walk.

Everyone within eyesight pretty much had heart emojis coming out of their eyes, as did staff and volunteers who saw Samantha walking proudly down the street. She was a showstopper, and that afternoon she definitely heard a lot of OMGs and Awwws.

Sammy’s extraordinary jammies will go with her to her new home, in the care of whoever adopts her!

A little more about Samantha. She radiates pure joy. Sammy is a smiler who seems to revel in life despite living in a shelter for a year. If she were a person, she would be one of those optimists who naturally sees the glass as half full.

Samantha is 2 years old, quite small for her breed, easy to walk, and a lot of fun. She bursts with energy sometimes, so she’d probably be best for a household with no small children she could knock over. She wants to be your only pet.

Come and meet this happy sweetheart from noon to 4 p.m. any day but Monday at 1590 Fortmann Way. Be prepared to feel a little extra spring in your walk after being with Samantha—her glee is contagious!

If you have any questions, please call FAAS at 510-337-8565. And check out Samantha’s page on the FAAS website.
