Post-Op 2.0
It has been an interesting week here at the home office of the Bear’s-Eye View of Alameda. My human companion (HC) and publisher had his partial knee replacement surgery on Monday. He went into Stanford Emeryville at 7:30 a.m. and was back home in Alameda by 2 p.m. Talk about “out” patient. The good news is that the procedure was a complete success. He now will have a second good knee once it heals and will be able to keep up with my walking schedule.
I was very happy to have him back home and made sure he got a big “MOUF” welcome.
He has taken the directive to do all physical therapy every day to heart and spends six hours a day doing exercises, icing the knee, and using the automatic knee-bending machine. By Thursday, he was back on his feet and walking into Starbucks to get his Green Tea Latte. The cup holder for crutches is a very handy invention.
He wanted me to mention that the container for the ice machine he uses for the cold water therapy can also be used to chill the wine for daily Happy Hour “therapy.” The doctor said it was important for the healing process to keep his spirits up.
As I mentioned in last week’s report, I have put together some “evergreen” reports to use while he is recovering. This week’s report covers some of Alameda’s great murals. People say, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” If this is truly the case, then this report containing eight images of murals located in Alameda is by far my longest report.
I hope you will go out and view these magnificent murals in person.
In closing out this week’s report, I want to acknowledge and thank everyone that sent along well wishes and a speedy recovery for my HC. We both are grateful for you all.
