Aruba Could be Your Very Own Golden Girl

Pet of the Week for October 12, 2024

Aruba is the Bea Arthur of huskies—a senior, dry sense of humor, a little sassy, a little quirky, and ultimately very sweet and funny. This 8-year-old Golden Girl is patiently waiting for her Rose, Blanche, or Sophia to take her in and make her part of a forever family.

She’s petite for a husky—only 41 pounds—which makes her easy to walk and handle. Once she gets past some initial shyness, you’ll see her fun, playful side. But she’s not overly energetic. Her favorite pastime is lying outside and soaking up the sunshine.

This gorgeous, blue-eyed girl does fine around other dogs as long as they don’t expect a playmate. Too much attention from dogs or little humans seems to get on her nerves, and that’s when you might see her rare cranky side. Even Golden Girls have their moments.

You can meet Aruba in person any afternoon except Monday at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way. She’s really hoping to be able to soon tell someone, “Thank you for being a friend.” (But she won’t sing it.)

And remember, because Aruba is a senior dog, there’s no adoption fee if you’re 62 or older!
