After a two-week winter break, AUSD schools reopened on January 6, and we hope that all of our students, staff, and families—as well as our wider community—had time to rest, recover, and enjoy time with loved ones.

A few reminders: Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year opens on January 27. Our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Information Night for the Ruby Bridges, Paden, Franklin, Maya Lin, and Love Elementary school zones will be held on January 14 at Paden, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The TK Information Night for the Edison, Otis, Earhart, and Bay Farm zones will be held on January 15 at Earhart, also from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Kindergarten Information Nights for all elementary schools will occur at 6:30 p.m. on January 16 at each school. The exact location will be published on each school’s home page calendar.
We encourage families interested in enrolling in AUSD schools to visit our enrollment web pages for more information.
Board meetings
At our final 2024 Board of Education meeting on December 16, Board members chose the committees on which they want to serve and approved a schedule of meetings for 2025. Please visit the AUSD Board of Education website for details.
The Board also recognized the outgoing president, Jennifer Williams, welcomed the new president, Gary Lym, and elected Heather Little as the new clerk. Board Members will keep these assignments through the calendar year 2025.
The first Board of Education meeting for 2025 will take place on January 14 at 6:30 p.m., at City Hall and via Zoom. During that meeting, the Board will hear presentations on AUSD’s response to the December 5 tsunami warning, school safety policies and programs, and the auditor’s reports on AUSD’s 2023-24 financial reports and Measure I and B facilities bonds.
Links to all Board Meeting agendas, minutes, and videos are available on the AUSD Board Agenda and Minutes web page.
