On July 26, the City of Alameda began construction of accessibility improvements for people with disabilities in the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal parking lot. The project is relocating accessible parking spaces closer to the ferry terminal building and adding a van-accessible space. This work is taking longer than originally anticipated, but is still estimated to be complete later this month.
Work includes the removal and replacement of concrete, asphalt pavement, signs, and striping. Users can also expect some pathway closures with detours, and a minor increase in noise. Dates of parking restrictions noted below are subject to change if further delays or unforeseen conditions are encountered during construction.
Wednesday, August 6: Restricted Parking

Approximately 8 spaces in the southern row of parking stalls will be restricted during concrete construction on Wednesday, August 6.
Friday, August 8: Restricted Parking

Approximately 25 spaces in the southern row of parking stalls will be restricted during concrete construction on Friday, August 8.
Additional Parking Available

Additional parking is available on the east side of Adelphian Way, between Sweet Way and Mecartney Road, where traditional parking restrictions (two-hour limit and street sweeping) will not be enforced during construction. Parking limits and restrictions will remain on all other streets. Parking on residential streets, on the west side of Adelphian Way, and at any red curbs is not permitted.
