Caltrans will again close the Posey Tube (Route 61) overnight for maintenance work next Monday through Wednesday nights, July 29-31. The Posey Tube, which connects outgoing traffic from Alameda to Oakland, will remain open during the day.
The Webster Tube, which brings traffic to Alameda from Oakland, will remain open day and night, as usual.
Posey Tube closure schedule:
- The Posey Tube will close at 10 p.m. on Monday, July 29, and reopen at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30.
- The Posey Tube will close at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, and reopen at 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31.
- The Posey Tube will close at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, and reopen at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 1.
Work will be postponed if it rains.
Traffic control measures
Changeable message and directional signs will be in place to assist motorists traveling in the area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be at the sites during the closures.
The CHP reminds motorists to drive with caution. “Slow for the Cone Zone” and “Be Work Zone Alert.”
