Clement Avenue is a main thoroughfare and a gateway to the city of Oakland, Fruitvale BART, and beyond. The street will be configured to have one travel lane in each direction for automobiles and trucks, a two-way separated bikeway on the north side of the street, parking on the south side of the street, and intermittent parking on the north side of the street. The project includes the removal of existing railroad tracks and addition of high visibility crosswalks, curb extensions, and daylighted intersections.

Construction work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. During construction, detours will be in place, and road users may experience disruptions in travel routes, temporary loss of parking spaces, and noise and dust. Westbound traffic is expected to be detoured during the early phase of the project to accommodate the removal of railroad tracks. Access for emergency vehicles will always be maintained. The project is scheduled to be complete at the end of 2024.

The City appreciates your cooperation and patience during this construction. Additional information is available on the project website. For further questions, contact Public Works Deputy Director Robert Vance by phone at 510-747-7900 or email [email protected].
