AUSD Board Applicants to be Interviewed Friday, December 8

Special meeting at district office to be livestreamed via Teams

The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) Board of Education will interview applicants for its vacant seat at a special meeting this Friday, December 8 at 5 p.m., at the district office, 2060 Challenger Drive. The meeting is open to the public and will also be livestreamed via Teams.

One seat on the Board of Education became vacant when Board Vice President Megan Sweet resigned in late October. On November 3, the Board of Education unanimously voted to fill the vacancy via appointment. Applications were made available to the community on November 6, with a deadline of December 6 to submit.

At the December 8 meeting, each of the AUSD Board applicants will give a three-minute opening statement. Once all candidates have given their statements, each candidate will have two minutes to answer a question posed by the Board. Community members can make two-minute public comments following the question-and-answer period.

The Board will deliberate and vote on a candidate at its public meeting on Tuesday, December 12. The new member will serve for the remainder of Ms. Sweet’s term (until November 2024). The agenda for the December 12 meeting is posted online: December 12 Agenda.
