124 Stolen Vehicles Recovered, Catalytic Converter Thefts Down, No Business District Robberies
There’s a lot of good news mixed in with a bit of bad news in the Alameda Police Department’s crime statistics for July 2023. The complete monthly summary is available online as a PDF file. Following is a quick snapshot. The numbers included from June’s report have been updated as the previous tallies did not properly count hit and run reports.
APD July statistics
- Robberies: There were no robberies reported in any of Alameda’s business districts in July. Across the rest of the city, there were a total of just six robberies reported in July—a 50% decrease over June.
- Catalytic converter theft: Catalytic converters are still being stolen around town, but occurrences have decreased significantly. APD received a total of 16 reports of catalytic converter theft in July—a 53% decrease compared to June, and over 67% reduction since May.

Next Beat meetings
APD is working with the community to try to prevent crimes—including car theft—by holding beat meetings around town. The remaining meeting this month will be for Beat 21 (see beat map) on Tuesday, August 15, 6 p.m., at Mastick Senior Center. On Tuesday, September 5, there will be a Beat 24 meeting at 6 p.m. at Franklin Elementary
“Over the past two months, one of the top reported crimes in Beat 21 has been vehicle theft,” APD stated. “We invite businesses and residents in Beat 21 to learn investigative insights, preventative measures, and what to do if you become the victim of this type of crime.”
Future beat meeting dates and locations for all neighborhoods are listed on the Beat Meetings page of the City of Alameda website. See the Beat Map to identify your neighborhood’s beat number.
A full listing of all Part I and Part II crimes, hate crimes, and annual reports can be found on APD’s Alameda Crime Activity page on the City of Alameda website.
