Rhythmix API Festival Dazzles

Hundreds turned out to enjoy Rhythmix Cultural Works’ Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Festival at Alameda’s Bohol Circle Immigrant Park on Saturday, May 20. Although it was an overcast May day, the performers brightened the afternoon with a variety of musical and dance performances in colorful costumes. Performers included Vân-Ánh Vanessa Võ, Manilatown Kulintang Ensemble, and Hālau Makana, and attendees also enjoyed hands on crafting activities and food trucks with unique dishes.

The festival was presented as part of Rhythmix’s PAL in the Parks series with the City of Alameda Recreation and Parks Department. It was co-produced by Forward Alameda with additional support from the City of Alameda Public Art Commission and featured event sponsor, RADIUM Presents.

Photographer Maurice Ramirez was also at the API festival and shared these photos of the participants and attendees.
