$30K to be awarded in 2026, deadline to apply is March 31
On Friday, March 6, the Elks Lodge on Santa Clara was filled with laughter, generosity, and the unmistakable aroma of lobster as 112 community members gathered for the Rotary Club of Alameda’s annual Lobster Dinner Fundraiser. United by a shared love for Alameda, the group raised more than $12,000 to support local nonprofits.
This year’s dinner was the most successful to date and featured an especially lively silent auction. Guests bid on an array of items, including a round of golf at The Olympic Club, a one-week stay in Baja, wines and tastings at more than seven wineries, tickets to Spamalot, a night at an Oakland Roots match, four hours of handyman services, and much more. The evening also included the popular 50/50 drawing and a spirited live dessert auction.
Proceeds from the event will support the Rotary Club of Alameda’s Community Grant Program, which is expanding its impact this year. For 2026, the Club is proud to offer two separate grant opportunities. The annual Community Grants Program will distribute an estimated $30,000 to a wide range of Alameda nonprofits, supporting the diversity of missions that strengthen the community. These grants may be used for specific projects, general programming, or to assist smaller organizations that lack their own fundraising capacity.
In addition, the Rotary Club will award a one-time $20,000 grant to a single Alameda nonprofit to fund a significant capital expense. Applications for both programs are due by March 31.
