Pet of the Week for July 6, 2024

All hail the Red Queen! Sasha is Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter’s resident diva. She’s also rather cat-like in her ways.
The seven-year-old husky can be friendly, but she’s mostly a bit aloof. She kind of likes people, though she doesn’t like to be touched much. Once she knows you, she will tolerate belly rubs.
FAAS staffers love Sasha, and call her “a very special senior.” She was recently described in a social media post as shedding “like a wooly mammoth.” Her resplendent coat, as you can see, is very regal, but Queen Sasha is not at all fond of being brushed by ordinary humans, so she has to shed au naturel.

Sasha loves her toys but definitely does not want to share them. She enjoys walks, treats, and some alone time. She also enjoys playing in the kiddie pool at the shelter, especially in warmer months, and can get the zoomies when splashing around.
Sweet and sassy Sasha is looking for a quiet home where she can reign as queen supreme. No other pets or kids, please—Sasha prefers to be the star of the show.

Read more about Sasha on her FAAS bio page. And stop by to meet her at the FAAS main shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, during regular visiting hours, Tuesday through Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Good news! A fan of Sasha has sponsored her, so whoever adopts her won’t pay any adoption fee.
