FAAS to Open New West End Thrift Store, the Diggity Dog

If you like the Thrifty Kitty, you’re going to love the Diggity Dogg. Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) has announced that their new thrift store, a light-filled 3,000-square-foot space at 649 Pacific Avenue, will open this spring—with fabulous furniture and housewares, and affordably priced clothing (including children’s), jewelry, toys, products for pets, and much more.

Not to worry, the Thrifty Kitty will continue to purr along as a boutique just a couple of blocks away, at 1509 Webster Street, while the Diggity Dogg will be a big, fun, vibrant store with quality items at very inexpensive prices. For example, all jewelry will be priced at just $1. And did we mention tons of great shoes?

Both stores will continue to have one very important thing in common—net proceeds will go directly to FAAS’s lifesaving programs.

Want to help? Here’s the deal. Transforming the former site of Kelly-Moore Paints into the Diggity Dog is a major undertaking, so FAAS is looking for founding sponsors to help bring the store to life. Contributions will help cover essential expenses such as plumbing, signage, flooring, paint, technology, and retail display racks, to create a welcoming, well-stocked store that can make a real impact.

The total goal is $20,000, but every contribution, no matter how small, will make a big difference. And all contributions of $100 or more will get you a FAAS Bestie Discount Card good for 20% off at both stores for a year.
