Here comes the sun
I am not sure what it is about seeing the sun come up in the morning sky rather than the cold, gray, damp marine layer that so often greets me on most early summer morning walks, but in my house, it changes the demeanor of my HC (human companion) for the entire day. It starts with a “GOOD MORNING MOUF!” from his side of the bed and continues with a special morning pig’s ear after our walk.
With the unseasonably warm weather I had to endure on Tuesday and Wednesday came this upbeat whimsical vibe at my house that bordered on being just plain silly, and I have to admit that some of it rubbed off on me. Apparently, the universe was also feeling this vibe.
Take the bathtub I found this week. WTF (what the fur) ?? Who does that!
It got even weirder when I went for a walk at South Shore Center and found Alameda’s version of Stonehenge in center court and later that day the multicolored electric ostrich. Turns out that aliens were not involved, and these structures were part of the Plein Air art exhibit and sale put on by the Frank Bette Center for the Arts and covered by the Post.
I was on Encinal Ave and came across one of the more unusual designs for a Little Library.
There was a lot of art showing up on Alameda streets, like the chalk art project on Alameda Avenue and a cute little “public service announcement” painting hung at the bottom of a telephone pole. Thanks to the artist for reminding all of us to slow down.
Other happenings of note include the new paint job for the Lions of Chestnut Street and a new gardening project that was started over at the Phillips Academy near the corner of Central Avenue and Chestnut Street.
Local front yard produce is starting to show up, witnessed by these bright yellow summer squashes I almost peed on my mistake.
Hope everyone can get out and enjoy this brief burst of summer.
