Alameda Sings! will lift holiday spirits with their Winter Concert “The Light of the Season” on Saturday, December 7, 7:30 p.m., at the Alameda Veterans Memorial Building, 2203 Central Avenue. Leading the chorus is Artistic Director Barbara Acosta with accompaniment by Merrill Collins, composer, producer, and CEO of Indie label, Spiraling Music. The concert will feature Collins’ original music “Hodie!” and the chorus will welcome the audience to sing along with favorite holiday carols.

The Bay Area Music Project Youth Chorus (BAMP), conducted by their Artistic Director Ryan Lee, will join the Alameda Sings! chorus (Alameda Community Chorus) and will fill the concert hall with “The Light of the Season.”

The BAMP choral group is part of an after-school music program at Maya Lin Elementary School. Founded by Program Director Lorrie Murray, the El Sistema-inspired program provides an opportunity for Maya Lin students to participate and perform.

“We’re so excited to invite back the young talents of BAMP to join us in our winter concert,” said Acosta. “As Alameda Sings! continues to collaborate and showcase our local talent, we want to share with our community songs that warm the heart during this holiday season.”

Alameda Sings!/ACC President Jo Lowe added, “Alameda Sings! highlights the love and need for music education and live concerts. We find opportunities to enhance our programs featuring local performers that entertain audiences of all ages.” Lowe noted that the nonprofit group welcomes volunteers and donors.
