Alameda Community Chorus (aka Alameda Sings!) will perform classic melodies during their winter concert, “Stories of Winter,” on Saturday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Building, 2203 Central Avenue. The family-friendly concert is sponsored by Alameda Recreation and Parks Department. The performance is free to attend, but a suggested donation of $10 or more will be gratefully accepted at the door.

Leading the chorus is Artistic Director Barbara Acosta, accompanied by pianist Merrill Collins, who also is the composer, producer, and CEO of her Indie label, Spiraling Music. The chorus, which features talented community singers, will take the audience through various winter stories and poems put to song, followed by a holiday carol sing-along at the end.
For the first time, the Tap Dancing Christmas Trees will join the Alameda Sings! concert as honored guest performers. Returning to the concert are the Bay Area Music Project (BAMP) Children’s Chorus, as well as Michael Moore on drums. The Children’s Chorus is always a delightful addition and have performed with the chorus several times in the past. Michael Moore, a local musician who performed with the chorus at the Spring 2025 concert, also teaches drumming to children and adults at the Drum Lab. All of these guest performers will highlight the singers, songs, and “Stories of Winter.”
“This winter season, the chorus is singing a little something for everyone,” said Barbara Acosta, Alameda Sings artistic director. “We’re presenting a variety of holiday songs that are nostalgic and tell familiar winter stories. …We are excited to have so many talented guest performers.”
Alameda Sings! President Jo Lowe noted that the chorus “continues to focus on the love and need for choral education and performance opportunities. This season is no exception as once again we enhance our concert by performing and highlighting local talent.” Lowe added that the nonprofit community chorus welcomes partnerships, donors, and volunteers “to share our desire to support pathways for Bay Area singers and musicians.”
Alameda Community Chorus is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that engages the community in advancing the love of choral music through education, performance and collaboration.
