Anchors play for collegiate baseball trophy Saturday afternoon at College of Alameda’s Pat Bail Field
Baseball fans, rejoice! Our very own Alameda Anchors finished the 2023 Bay Area Collegiate Baseball League (BACL) standings at the top of the heap, with a 14-5-1 record—a whopping .700 winning percentage. After a Friday night playoff victory, they will play for the BACL championship Saturday at 3 p.m. at Pat Bail Field.

On Thursday, the surprising 12th-seeded Thunder defeated the 7th-seeded San Francisco Seals 1-0, and the 6th seeded Vacaville Admirals 4-3, to take them to the playoff game against the top-seeded Anchors.
*** UPDATE: The top-seeded Anchors scored nine runs on nine hits in the BACL playoff game Friday night, more than enough to bring the Cinderella run of the East Bay Thunder to an end, Alameda Post podcaster Scott Piehler reports. The Anchors 9-3 win over the 12th-seeded Thunder means Alameda will play for the league championship this Saturday, July 29, at 3 p.m. at Pat Bail Field.
Their opponent will be determined in the semifinal starting at noon, as the 2nd-seeded Menlo Park Legends face off against the 3rd-seeded Napa Deep Roots at Pat Bail Field. The Legends earned their trip to the semifinals with a decisive 21-1 win over the Gameprep Trojans. The Deep Roots also notched a convincing win, defeating the West Coast Kings Gold squad 15-8. ***
The Anchors hope as many local fans as possible will show up to root for the home team. Admission is $8 for adults, kids 12 and under get in free.
There’s nothing like postseason play, especially with a young team that is super excited just to get out there and play ball. Check out what some of them had to say about their favorite moments from the regular season:

Collegiate baseball is a lot of fun and a great deal for families. In addition to free admission for kids, there are all the things you love at a ballpark—hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, and other treats from the snack bar—for much less than you pay at a big league park. And did we mention cool team merch? Best part: It won’t take more than five or 10 minutes to get there if you live on the island—and there’s free parking!
Where is Pat Bail Field?
The field is easy to find. Take Webster Street toward the Posey Tube turn left onto Willie Stargell Avenue (In-N-Out Burger will be on your right). Continue to the stoplight and turn left onto East Campus Drive. You’ll pass by the outfield fence and scoreboard (on your right). Then turn right into the parking lot and drive through to the second lot to get a spot close to the field entrance and snack bar.
See you at the game! Meanwhile, follow the Alameda Anchors on Instagram and TikTok.
