Carr-Elkaim’s service project involved planning, organizing, and leading the refurbishing of Alameda’s Scout Park, located on Otis Drive near Park Street. The project included repairing and painting benches, repairing and painting the Powell Street fence, painting the flag pole, planting 30 drought-friendly plants with a wood chip landscape, concrete capping 85 retaining posts, and polishing the original 1981 brass dedication plaque.

Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA. Since the first Eagle Scout rank was awarded in 1912, only 4% of Scouts have earned the award, and only after a lengthy review process. Carr-Elkaim is Alameda Troop 78’s 49th Eagle Scout.

Alameda Scout Troop 78 was chartered by Saint Philip Neri Church in 1978. Membership is open to everyone between the ages of 11 to 17. Meetings are held every Monday at 7 p.m. at 3120 Van Buren Street.
