‘No Kings’ organizers thank Alameda
To the Editor:
There is no better feeling than when you help organize an event and people really show up. Like, fully, completely and wholeheartedly SHOW UP. Thank you, Alameda, for showing up and showing out for NO KINGS last Saturday!
We had around 4,000 Alamedans come together on June 14th, easily passing 3.5% of our population. If this level of participation is sustained over time, tyranny cannot survive here! Given the state of our nation, we need to continue to push back against a wannabe King and persist in our peaceful and powerful defense of democracy.
Rachel Maddow shared our small town with the nation as she played videos of rallies all over the United States. And friends in Australia said they got a televised peek at our small but spunky island. We are one dot on a world map of over 2,100 other cities and towns that made it known that tyranny will not stand in the United States. All in all, it is estimated that over 5 million people gathered to send a unified message to Donald Trump; we haven’t had a king since 1776, and we sure as $#!‡ don’t want one now!
Our hats are off to all the volunteers who helped create this amazing and nationally historic protest, from organizers to each and every Alamedan who activated their democratic power, choosing action over acquiescence.
Civic support stepped in seamlessly, to make this rally safe amid rising concerns and threats. If you are wondering what you can do next, please sign up with All Rise Alameda, EB-FLOW and/or Indivisible and stay active.
Thank you, Alameda!
ONWARD!

Reader thanks the Post for ‘No Kings’ coverage
To the Editor:
Thank you for the excellent coverage of the No Kings Day protest in Alameda. The legacy media has been rightly criticized for under reporting on this important milestone. The Alameda Post did a great job of covering the event and reporting the numbers of Alamedans and who showed up. It took a lot of planning and organizing to create this peaceful event and as a subscriber to the Alameda Post, I was very happy to see it accurately reported by you. Thank you!
Catherine Egelhoff,
Alameda.
