A big “Thank you!” from the Alameda Free Library and a request to support the Alameda Post
To the Editor:
Alameda Free Library would like to thank the community for its tremendous support of and participation in our summer programs.
This year we had 3044 children, 272 teens, and 1229 adults participate in our nine-week ‘Level Up at the Library’ summer reading program. In 2007, during my first summer working in Alameda, we were excited to have 1690 people participate, so you can imagine how thrilled we are with this 268% increase in participation!
This level of success would not have been possible without the help and generosity of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library. The Friends fund all the Library’s special programming and we appreciate everything they do to help enrich the Alameda community.
Special thanks to our community supporters who donate the incentives for our participants: the owners and staff of Tucker’s Ice Cream, who donated a junior scoop of ice cream to all 1984 children who completed eight hours of reading; and Subpar Miniature Golf who donated 1245 rounds of golf to the kids who completed all 24 hours of the summer reading program. This level of commitment to the Library and to the community goes above and beyond. We appreciate them more than I can say.
And, of course, a huge thank you goes to the patrons and staff of the Alameda Free Library. Your energy, enthusiasm, and dedication keep us going. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your summer and we look forward to planning next year’s summer program.
Sincerely,
Eva Volin

Let’s save the Alameda Post!
To the Editor:
The Alameda Post is an Alameda treasure, providing unbiased, thorough news coverage of our wonderful town. Currently, they are experiencing challenges with funding and need your support! Please make a one-time gift to get them back on their feet or, better yet, a monthly donation so they have ongoing sources of funding they can count on.
Please give generously to save our local news! The Alameda Post is a nonprofit so your donation is tax deductible.
Let’s rally around the Post and save this Alameda treasure!
Thank you!
