APD reports person of interest in custody.
Four family members were killed and others injured Wednesday night, July 10, in the 400 block of Kitty Hawk Road in Alameda. The Alameda Post was at the scene Thursday morning, where Alameda Police Lieutenant Alan Kuboyama confirmed three adults and one child have died, and another child is in critical condition.
A person of interest is in custody, according to the Alameda Police Department. APD Chief Nishant Joshi is scheduled to provide a further update this morning at the police station. The Post will further update this story at that time.
Police “received a call from an individual who reported that their neighbor had been shot,” APD reported on Facebook after the shooting. “Upon arrival, Alameda police officers located the victim. While clearing the residence, APD located multiple family members suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, including juveniles. A person of interest is in custody.” That person’s identity and relationship with the family were not revealed in the report.
“At this time, there is no information to suggest there is any threat to members of the public,” the APD report stated. “An investigation is ongoing and we will share more information when it is available.”
