March 2025 APD Crime Statistics

Arrests, collisions, and automobile thefts all went up by 21%, 20%, and 17% respectively from February to March. Alameda Police officers remind residents to slow down and drive safely, especially in the numerous construction areas on Central Avenue.

The good news is that larceny and theft offenses are down 34% compared to last year at this time. Automobile thefts remain much lower compared to last year at this time, down by 68%.

Calls for service went up by 5.3% to 6,041 for March. APD phone lines are busy with an average of 195 calls a day. Reports went up by 9.5% to 567 for the month, or an average of 18 a day.

APD March 2025 incidents of note

Criminal Threats: On March 2 at 2:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual causing a disturbance at a business in the 1500 block of Oak Street. The suspect entered the building and made concerning threats to patrons, and was later located near Grand Street and Otis Drive, where officers issued a citation. The individual also was issued a Letter of No Trespass, prohibiting them from accessing the property for a period of time. #25-01169

Burglary: On March 2 at 6 p.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in the 2400 block of Webb Avenue. An individual had gained access to a property through an unsecured door and removed cash and tools before leaving the scene. On March 4, members of the San Francisco Police Department located the suspect. The individual was arrested for multiple offenses. #25-01172

Forgery: On March 25 at 7:32 a.m., officers responded to a report of an in-progress theft at the South Shore Shopping Center. As officers arrived, the suspect attempted to flee. After a brief pursuit on foot, the suspect was detained and found to be in possession of multiple forged checks and ID cards. The suspect was arrested, the items were returned to the store, and the victims of the checks and IDs were contacted. #25-01605

False Report: On March 25 at 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a possible carjacking in the area of Doolittle Drive and Island Drive. During the follow-up investigation, detectives determined that the individual knowingly made a false police report to commit insurance fraud. The individual was arrested on March 26. #25-01630

Assault: On March 26 at 9:48 p.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation that resulted in the brandishing of a firearm in the 900 block of Shorepoint Court. Due to the heated nature of the call, a plan was developed and multiple officers responded to the scene. Officers contacted the suspect, who peacefully surrendered. Two firearms were located and taken for safekeeping. #25-01644

Traffic Enforcement: During the month, APD officers issued 621 traffic citations and 323 warnings. There were eight DUI arrests, six of which involved collisions.
