After weeks of voting—and voting and voting—Alameda Fire Department (AFD) has been declared the winner of the 2026 Fire Truck Faceoff, which nets a $1,500 donation to the Alameda Food Bank.

AFD thanked the community for its support in the Fire Truck Face Off Charity Battle, which began back in March and faced numerous delays due to computer glitches along the way. Supporters voted daily (when the site was working properly) and shared posts about the contest on social media, encouraging others to vote and support both AFD and the Food Bank. The total count was 31,192 votes, AFD stated.

Community members expressed their congratulations and thanks for the campaign, which will result in a $1,500 donation to the Food Bank. One commenter referred to AFD’s promise that Fire Chief Nick Luby would kiss a locally beloved pig, Bosco, if they won.

“Great job to all,” the commenter wrote, adding, “Kiss that Pig!”

Bosco will indeed get a kiss from Chief Luby at the community celebration, AFD promised in its victory post.

“We plan to host a ceremony in the coming days at the Alameda Food Bank with Truck 1 where we will present the $1,500 Donation and livestream Chief Luby’s kiss with Bosco the Pig (as promised),” AFD stated in posts on Facebook and Instagram.

The celebration will be held this Thursday, April 23, at the Alameda Food Bank at 12:00 P.M.
