Alameda Fire Department (AFD) has welcomed an exciting new addition. On Monday, April 14, AFD placed its new Pierce Enforcer Tractor Drawn Aerial in service at Fire Station 1 as the new Truck 1.

A small ceremony was held on Monday, April 14, including a blessing from Fire Chaplin Father Jayson Landeza and crews pushing the new apparatus into the fire station.
For the past several months, equipment for the new Truck 1 has been arriving and being installed. AFD firefighters have been completing in-service training, practicing driving, operating, and training on the features of the new Tractor Drawn Aerial.

“This new Truck 1 was ordered in May 2022 and putting it in service is the result of the dedication, hard work, and hundreds of hours of planning and training by the AFD Apparatus Committee,” AFD stated in a report on Facebook.
With the addition of this new Truck to AFD’s frontline fleet, the old Truck 1 will be placed as a reserve Truck which provides AFD with a fully capable Tractor Drawn Aerial as a back-up when a frontline truck is out of service for maintenance, the report stated.
The 1995 Reserve straight truck that has served the City of Alameda for 30 years will now be officially retired.
