3 days of running, 6 unique distances and lots of views, brews, and family fun
“As a lifelong Alameda resident and avid runner, I am honored to take part in bringing these great events to our community and showcasing the beautiful trails and venues the Island has to offer,” proclaims Steve Ashbaker, Outfront Endurance owner and race director.
This year the Island Running Festival partners with local Olympian Alysia Montaño’s Mover’s Collective and seasoned event producer Lena Zentgraf Jones. Movers Collective is a fitness and lifestyle company aimed to bring more access to movement and the Movers Collective Mile under the lights Friday night is a great addition to our 3 day festival.Jones, brings back the highly competitive Alameda 10 Miler on Saturday under her brand Big Huge Day Events. Saturday will also include the Family Fun Run presented by The Mission HQ.
Sunday of the festival welcomes people of all running and fitness levels, with options to run the 5K race presented by Penumbra, 10K, or Half Marathon. All of this is incorporated into the Bank of Marin’s Island Running Festival totaling six unique distances over three days and anchored by the Health and Wellness expo presented by Alameda Health Systems. All races start and end on the historic Alameda Point, home of the Alameda Naval Air Station until its closure in 1997. Registration available online or during the event expo on Saturday August 17th and Sunday August 18th 7am-12pm, at 950 W. Mall Square. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Alameda Education Foundation.
