Math Puzzle for February 27, 2026

Sharing fairly and squarely is second only to giving

Alameda post - A circle cut into uneven halves, with one labeled T and one labeled G.

Tristan is sharing an oatmeal cookie with his younger brother Grant. Grant’s weight is one-fifth of Tristan’s weight. Therefore, the cookie is divided proportionately—one-fifth is designated for Grant.

The dividing line or chord has a length of 14.80209537 centimeters. The cookie, essentially a cylinder, has a uniform thickness of 1.5 centimeters.

The density of a dry cookie, before any dunking, is 0.08810573 grams per cc.

Find the mass of Tristan’s share of the cookie.

Send the correct answer to [email protected] for a chance to win a Tucker’s gift card.
