Winky the Pocket Pittie

Pet of the Week for August 23, 2025

Winky is a 2-year-old pocket pittie with tons of potential and a zest for life. She’s a high-energy pup who is also polite and easy to manage, with a sweet-natured personality.

Winky is a quick learner who knows basic commands, and is curious about the world! She’s an active pup who finds joy in everything, whether it’s a calm car ride or an enthusiastic walk where she loves to sniff and explore.

Despite her high energy, she’s described by volunteers as polite and easy to manage. She’s already a pro at “sit” and “down” and takes treats with gentle grace. Winky loves to play with other dogs and could thrive with a canine sibling, but she’d also be happy to soak up all your attention as a solo pup.

If you’re seeking a fun and loving adventure buddy, Winky is the perfect match!

She’s ready to learn more with a family committed to consistent training and daily exercise. Our friends at Oakland Animal Services let us know that while in their care, she was curious and friendly, riding calmly in the car and enjoying every new sight.

Give this amazing girl the structure and love she craves, and she’ll shower you with affection in return!

You can meet Winky at Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter, 1590 Fortmann Way, during open hours—Wednesday and Thursday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note that nap time for the animals is 1 to 2 p.m. and the last meet time is one hour before closing..

And if you’re heading to the big Bark (and Meow!) Around the Block adoption event this Saturday, August 23, at 2700 Ninth Street in Berkeley, you may see her there!
