Wednesday Nights on Webster Street Will Sound a Little Different

Last week, on June 10, West Alameda Business Association (WABA) launched Webster Wednesdays, a new bi-weekly music series that transforms storefronts, sidewalks, restaurants, and gathering spaces into a celebration of local music, local business, and neighborhood connection.

Every other Wednesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. through September, Webster Wednesdays invites residents and visitors alike to grab dinner, enjoy a drink, wander the neighborhood, and discover the businesses, artists, and experiences that make West Alameda unique.

For WABA, the series is about more than music.

“Webster Street has always been more than a commercial corridor — it’s where neighbors gather, where relationships are built, and where community happens,” said Marie Ortega, Chair of WABA’s Board of Directors. “Webster Wednesdays is about creating reasons for people to spend time here, discover businesses they may have never visited, and experience the neighborhood in a new way.”

The series continues WABA’s ongoing effort to activate Webster Street through expanded programming, neighborhood beautification efforts, public art initiatives, and investments in community gathering spaces like Webster Park.

“Music creates energy,” said Elissa Glickman, WABA’s Executive Director. “You hear it down the block and people follow it. Suddenly they stay a little longer, discover a new business, order dessert, grab another drink, or reconnect with neighbors. Those small moments are what make neighborhoods feel vibrant, and that’s what Webster Wednesdays is all about.”

Each performance will take place at a different location throughout the district, encouraging attendees to explore different businesses and blocks throughout the summer. By rotating performances throughout the neighborhood, Webster Wednesdays encourages visitors to discover new businesses and experience different parts of Webster Street over the course of the season.
