Swim Class, Splish-Splash, Pool Pass!

If you’re looking for a pool to enjoy this summer, Alameda Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) has got you covered. There are two public pools—Encinal and Emma Hood—and dozens of swim classes and programs for every age group and ability, from Baby and Me Splish-Splash to public passes, fitness passes, competitive swim classes, water polo, and even Dive-In Movies.

Each program has its own schedule and pricing, outlined in the ARPD Summer 2023 Activity Guide, which was mailed out to Alameda residents a couple of weeks ago and also is available online. (Information about the Aquatics programs is on pages 7-9.)

The Public Swim program is available all summer, through August 7. Swim times for Emma Hood are as follows:

  • Fridays 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at both pools (not on July 7).
  • Fridays 4 to 7 p.m. at lap pool only (not on July 7).
  • Saturdays 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at both pools.
  • Sundays 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at both pools.

Swim times for Encinal Swim Center:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday noon to 3 p.m. at baby pool.
  • Fridays 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at both pools (not on July 7 or August 4).
  • Fridays 4 to 7 p.m. at baby pool (not on July 7 or August 4).
  • Saturdays 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at both pools (not on August 5).
  • Sundays 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at both pools (not on August 6).

Daily rates for Alameda residents are $3 for youth under age 18 and seniors age 50 and older; $5 for adults age 18 to 49. Add $1 for non-residents. Summer passes for residents are $48 for youth under age 18 and seniors age 50 and older ($65 for non-residents); $81 for adults age 18 to 49 ($98 for non-residents).
