Campaign Season
With all the campaign signs around town, I have been inspired to run for office. But, after looking at YouTube videos, I am still not sure what the big deal is. I was able to order lawn signs online, and I am starting to put the four of them out. I have three left, and my Human Companion (HC) will deliver a sign to the first three people that commit to making a $50 donation to the FAAS Emergency Medical Fund. Please email my HC at [email protected] to confirm that you willing to donate, and he can tell you your position in line. Walking precincts is also very important, but that is a piece of cake for me since I do that every day with my HC. I have been looking into “GOTV,” but I cannot find what channel it’s on. Is it streaming??
In my last report, I asked those that were running for office here in Alameda to give me the address of your lawn sign location, and candidate Joyce Boyd contacted me. Thanks for the info, and here is the picture. A reminder that I do not endorse candidates (except for me!) and this image is provided as a public service only.
I came across a set of blue metallic single letter balloons that I guess is to celebrate “KAMALA”s birthday. But they forgot to include the number balloons. Anyway, HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAMALA!
I am pleased that I am beginning to see more Halloween decorations around the city. One day it was a witch, and the next day I found a nice gathering of pumpkins on a front porch. I hope the squirrels don’t find them.
I had almost forgotten about the entire fairy door fad that was so popular during COVID. I found a cute one on Encinal Avenue. Are they coming back into fashion?? If you know of a nice one, shoot me the address and I will check it out on one of my walks.
While the little libraries were not a fad and are still very popular, I had not seen a new one for well over a year. So, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bright yellow and red one with a really cool roof line. Bike Walk Alameda has a whole page on their website devoted to these mini bastions of knowledge.
I thought we were past the summer growing season, but there seems to be a sweet pepper plant that did not get the memo. These guys look delicious!
I want to close out this week with a big shout out to the folks at the Kate McCaffrey Group who have the listing to sell the house on Central Avenue I’ve been mentioning. I asked why houses that were for sale had to have every light on 24/7. This week, I noticed that most of the lights towards the back of the house were turned off at night, saving money, energy, and helping the environment. GREAT JOB GUYS!
Next week, we start the countdown to Halloween for real, with only 32 days left.
