Alameda Municipal Power and CLEAResult will host a free webinar on Tuesday, May 14, 11 a.m. to noon, for multifamily decisionmakers to learn more about EV charging at multifamily properties and how to get rebates up to $48,000.

EV charging at multifamily properties has multiple benefits, from increasing property value by attracting and retaining tenants to removing barriers to EV ownership by offering convenient charging for tenants.

“Installing new EV charging at multifamily rental properties in Alameda will bring more opportunities for electric vehicle adoption,” AMP Public Utilities Board President Christina Nagy McKenna said. “AMP’s free technical assistance program will also help apartment owners and managers navigate solutions that can elevate residents’ quality of living and add value to their properties. It’s a win-win.”

The program’s complimentary technical assistance provides multifamily property decision-makers with information on planning, design, and installation for Level 2 EV chargers, including site review, ADA compliance, estimated project costs, installation process, and contractor referrals. Alameda Municipal Power is offering up to $48,000 in rebate incentives for charging station installations at multifamily residences, $4000 for every Level 2 charge port (maximum 12).

“EV charging at Alameda multifamily properties provides a 100% clean energy solution for several resident households to utilize,” AMP General Manager Nicolas Procos said. “The EV Charging Technical Assistance Program aligns with AMP’s goals to support customers as they explore and adopt electrification measures for their homes and businesses.”

According to the California Energy Commission, nearly four of every 10 new vehicles purchased in Alameda County are EVs. AMP’s May 14 webinar will provide multifamily property owners and managers with information that can help them prepare their investments for EV infrastructure that will keep up with EV demand in years to come.
