Altarena Playhouse Presents Anything Goes

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through April 26

Spend a night on the town at the opening weekend of Altarena Playhouse’s latest musical, Anything Goes. See the show at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, or 2 p.m. on Sundays, through April 26.

Anything Goes follows luxury liner SS American on its voyage from New York to England, including an amusing and eccentric cast of characters. The musical won three 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival and five 2011 Drama Desk Awards, including Best Musical Revival.

We suggest that you reserve your tickets well in advance if you wish to attend Anything Goes. After the island started buzzing about Atlarena’s 2025 musical, Grease, tickets were gone in a flash.

The show runs about two hours and 40 minutes with one intermission. Guests who require mobility accommodations are encouraged to reach out to the theater in advance. The Sunday, April 12 show at 2 p.m. will offer an audio description by Gravity Access. See more on Altarena’s Accessibility webpage. Tickets range from $36 to $45 and are available online.

Wet Paint Day 2026

Saturday, March 28

Frank Bette Center for the Arts is gearing up for their 21st Annual Plein Air Paintout, and they are kicking things off with their Wet Paint Day 2026 fundraiser. On Saturday, March 28, join Frank Bette at South Shore Center in Room #2242 (next to See’s Candy) to get involved. Wet Paint Day is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Painters will be given time to paint from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. At 2 p.m., artists are invited to register their work for sale, take their art and easels, and set up a display for interested buyers. At this time, shoppers are invited to view the work—and yes, it’ll still be wet!

Artists will receive 60% of the sale price of their pieces, and the remaining 40% will go towards the Nancy Seamons Crookston Award for the 21st Annual Plein Air Paintout. This drop-in event does not require any registration. A donation of $25 is suggested. See the Frank Bette website for more information.
