If you’d prefer to do some shopping that day, head over to Malaya Botanicals’ special Alameda Point Night Market for Women’s History Month at Faction Brewing. If you’re looking for a big adventure on Saturday, March 29, check out the unique Kayak Fishing Adventure with Stacked Adventures, setting out from the Encinal Boat Ramp. That afternoon, Faction Brewing is hosting their Spring Market, featuring 25+ vendors and a food truck. To beat the Sunday scaries on March 30, grab your kicks for ARPD’s Open Gym at the Alameda Point Gymnasium. No matter what you do, you’ll be anything but bored!

Storytelling Night

Friday, March 28

Do you have a story to tell? Join Storytelling Nights—formerly Alameda Storyslam—on Friday, March 28, from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. The event will be held at the Alameda Elks Lodge #1015, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue.

Improviser and storyteller Yael Schy will host the evening. Schy is the former host of the Alameda Comedy Club’s Storyslam, and according to the event description, “is known for her acting, wit, and improv skills and also for helping to teach others to bring out their funniest, cleverest stories.” The theme of the evening is “Weddings,” and the Featured Storyteller is Alameda resident Mindy Myers.



You are welcome to put your name in a hat to share a short story, or simply listen and enjoy the evening. Stories should be true, personal stories and no more than five minutes long. There will be a no-host bar and free light snacks will be available. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.

Alameda Point Night Market – Women’s History Month

Friday, March 28

Malaya Botanicals is hosting a special Alameda Point Night Market for Women’s History Month on Friday, March 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. Head over to Faction Brewing, 2501 Monarch Street, to grab a drink and enjoy the festivities.

The evening’s lineup is comprised of all women artists:

While you’re listening to powerful performances, enjoy shopping from women-owned local food vendors and artisans. Entry to the market and brewery is free. Reserve a table online for groups of 2, 4, 8, or 10 to get the best seat in the house for the performances, plus a bucket of beer. Reserved seating is $25 per person.

Kayak Fishing Adventure

Saturday, March 29

Looking for a new adventure around Alameda? Join Stacked Adventures for their Kayak Fishing Adventure on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Set sail from the Encinal Boat Ramp, 190 Central Avenue, for this unique adventure.

Troll along the Alameda Rock Wall for seasonal halibut, then paddle out and ride the currents as the day progresses. Tours are approximately three hours and include some instruction. Please note that this event is designed for participants who already have some experience with both fishing and kayaking.

Your ticket includes a sit-on-top paddle kayak, dry bags, a personal flotation device, paddle, and fishing equipment. Space is quite limited for these adventures. Reserve your ticket online for $125 plus a processing fee. All participants must be at least 13 years old, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Spring Market at Faction Brewing

Saturday, March 29

Two Alameda Point markets in one weekend? Join Faction Brewing, 2501 Monarch Street, for their Spring Market on Saturday, March 29, from 1 until 6 p.m.

The Spring Market features more than 25 artists and crafters from around the Bay Area. Find a gorgeous dog collar from Wiggle & Woof, try decadent hot chocolate from Sipreme Chocolate, and shop sensational scents from Baltic Pacific Soap. See the list of vendors at the bottom of the Eventbrite page.

Entry to the Spring Market is free. The Curveball Slider food truck will be serving up American classics like beef sliders with braised pork belly and fried chicken sandwiches.

Basketball Open Gym

Sunday, March 30

Want to shoot some hoops? ARPD is hosting Open Gym on Sunday, March 30, from 6 to 10 p.m. Lace up your shoes and head over to Alameda Point Gymnasium, 1101 West Red Line Avenue, to improve your game and make some friends.

Players of all skill levels are welcome to join the fun. Open Gym includes opportunities for casual shooting, skill development, and friendly games. Please note that this event is reserved for players ages 18 and up.

Open Gym is currently scheduled every Sunday until April 27, excluding Easter Sunday on April 20, and another season is on the horizon in June. Advance registration is encouraged. If space is available, participants may register on the day of the event. The registration fee is $8 per night.
