A single-engine plane with two people on board made an emergency landing on the morning of Friday, December 20, on an old runway at the former Naval Air Station on Alameda Point. Alameda Fire Department (AFD) responded at 10:26 a.m. to a report of an aircraft emergency in the vicinity of Alameda Point.

The pilot was able to successfully complete a safe emergency landing, according to an Alameda Fire Department (AFD) report posted on Facebook. AFD’s response included 17 personnel and the deployment of the AFD Fire Boat. The US Coast Guard also responded with a helicopter.
“Alameda Fire and Police Units located the plane and its occupants who were uninjured,” AFD stated. “No additional hazards were reported. The plane landed safely and no one was injured.”
The single-engine Cessna C152 was heading to Palo Alto Airport when it experienced an engine issue, lost altitude and was forced to make the emergency landing, according to a Federal Aviation Administration statement reported on NBC News.
No hazmat issues were reported as a result of the landing, fire officials said. The FAA will continue its investigation.
